Did He Leave a Will?

John 11: 47 "Then the chief priests and the Pharisees gathered a council and said, “What shall we do? For this Man works many signs. 48 If we let Him alone like this, everyone will believe in Him, and the Romans will come and take away both our place and nation.”
49 And one of them, Caiaphas, being high priest that year, said to them, “You know nothing at all, 50 nor do you consider that it is expedient for us that one man should die for the people, and not that the whole nation should perish.” 51 Now this he did not say on his own authority; but being high priest that year he prophesied that Jesus would die for the nation, 52 and not for that nation only, but also that He would gather together in one the children of God who were scattered abroad."

I don’t believe Caiaphas was a godly man, and I’d be a little surprised to bump into him in eternity. Yet he was used by God as high priest to prophecy that Jesus would die for the nations. Caiaphas didn’t understand the full nature of what he said, yet God still used him.

I have spent years of my life fearful and insecure over whether I would ever be used by God. Yet “it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure" (Phil 2:13). It is God’s will that makes my will desire to do His will. Just as it is necessary to fulfill God’s will by His power in me, I must rely on Him for every step. Knowing our will and decisions, God constructs His perfect will in spite of, or in accordance with ours. Trust in Him, rely on God to give you the desires of your heart (Psalm 37:4).

Ephesians 2:10
For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.
