Exodus 24:16 Now the glory of the LORD rested on Mount Sinai, and the cloud covered it six days. And on the seventh day He called to Moses out of the midst of the cloud. 17 The sight of the glory of the LORD was like a consuming fire on the top of the mountain in the eyes of the children of Israel.
God called Moses to the mountain, and there Moses and Joshua remained for 7 days before God called to them.
When I have followed God's clearly directed path, I expect confidently to hear from God as I see obstacles or forks in the road. On occasion, I have waited days, (or perhaps just hours) for His leading and found myself despondent, thinking that either I was mistaken about God's direction, or His love for me.
It is so easy to brush over 6 silent days for Moses and Joshua. I wonder if it was comfortable for them up there. Were they allowed to light a fire on God's holy mountain at nighttime? I do know this, they waited until the 7th day to hear from God.
God's pauses are as meaningful as His directions. Let patience have her perfect work (James 1:4)
