Romans 13:3 For I say, through the grace given to me, to everyone who is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think soberly, as God has dealt to each one a measure of faith. 4 For as we have many members in one body, but all the members do not have the same function, 5 so we, being many, are one body in Christ, and individually members of one another. 6 Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, let us use them: if prophecy, let us prophesy in proportion to our faith; 7 or ministry, let us use it in our ministering; he who teaches, in teaching; 8 he who exhorts, in exhortation; he who gives, with liberality; he who leads, with diligence; he who shows mercy, with cheerfulness.
Paul said, I have been given the grace to understand and teach you not to build your self-identity in how God is using you. It’s the greatness of God we should focus on, and not the greatness of the vessel.
He instructed them to think soberly, clear headed; that being used by God almighty, in any way is a great privilege.
To be used by God on your knees in prayer for others is just as amazing as begin an evangelist preaching before thousands. God gives you the proper measure of faith to be the person He gives you the grace to be, and there is nothing better than that for any person to possess.
We are each gifted and placed appropriately in the Body of Christ to dispel the gifts He has given. He goes on to caution us to use as God’s grace employs. If you have been given the gift to evangelize, don’t try to become a pastor teacher. His grace is sufficient for His plan, not necessarily for your plan. Those simple things that come so easily as you’re loving God, no matter how small, are the truly big things God has in mind for you.
